When visiting Walt Disney World there is a great service that you can get. When you are staying on site you can pre-purchase a unlimited photo pass. This means all photos that are taken of you can be loaded on your card and you can download them all!. I was able to purchase the package before we got there for $149. I ended up with 175 photos. If you get the package make sure you use it. Every time you come into the park, get your photo taken. Each time you have one taken, you may end up with a better photo. I have a 4 year old and you never know what stage of open eye she will be in the photo.
Don't forget to ask if they take magical photos. The one below they put Tinkerbell into her hands and below that they had her jump and it looks like she is being carried away by balloons.
This year we went to Walt Disney World, but my husband was not able to attend. There are some items that you want to share with your loved ones, you want to see the look on your daughters face as she meets one of the princesses, you want to see the glow of the electric light parade in her eye. While movies will show it to you, it isn't the same as being there in real time. Inside of the parks they now have WiFi. So I had the idea WHY NOT FACETIME DURING THESE EVENTS? So that is what we did. I grabbed a good spot on the ground and sat next to my daughter and dialed up my husband during the parade. He was able to watch it with us and ask Lili questions while the parade went past. She loved being able to tell daddy what she was thinking and he got to see that magical shimmer in her eye.
If you have ever been to Walt Disney World, you know this is a question you will ask yourself each time you leave a ride. The problem is, the majority of strollers look the same! They fall into a few colors: Red. Black, Blue. Because of the sheer number of strollers at the parks, there are designated areas to drop off your stroller near each ride (otherwise you would be tripping over them). There are cast members who then keep that area maintained and structure it so that they have some order (making it easier to drop another one off). The problem is when you come to get your stroller it isn't where you left it. At that point the hunt is on. I was determined to not let this happen to me. So I created a attachment for the stroller to be above it. My daughter and I made it into a craft project. We used a flower and I then wrapped the stem in some fun fabric that we found. I wanted a stem that was bendable so that I wouldn't have it in the way while pushing the stroller.
Next time I would make something a little taller. It would be even easier.
I also follow the same practice with me car in everyday life :) (a little Mickey can go a long way to making your day a little brighter:))
Ah, back from vacation and coming down off of the Disney high! The pixie dust keeps your spirit lifted for a little while once you get home :) While I will post more about the trip and the magic bands I wanted to get a little sale information out there. The Disney Store is having a 25% off everything sale right now. Great time to pick up some gifts for the holidays (I am personally determined to be finished by Thanksgiving this year!). The discount is on-top of other sales in the store. So you can get free shipping, free personalization, and the nightwear on sale. I was able to get the Christmas personalized nightgown for my daughter for only $15! Check it out: The Disney Store Hurry because it ends this weekend!
So today the round 2 application started (at 3pm) for the Disney Parks Moms Panel. There were 9 questions and 1 video and lots of word and length requirements. My application is in, and I was who I am and that is all I can be :) Now it is up to Disney to go through all the round 2 to get to the final selections for the round 3 phone interview. Luckily I am in Disney World starting in a few days so I wont think about it :) Heck I didn't think I made it to round 2 and got the happy surprise letter on Friday. Now it is time for sleep. I wanted to make sure this was done since tomorrow I have lots to do for work, and who can forget it is my husbands birthday!
Yesterday I was sitting on the train traveling back from my work visit up north and I was reading through my emails. I had entered into the Disney Parks Moms Panel competition back in September. I knew the emails were due out in October with the invites for Round 2 of the challenge. They had said that they might only notify those who made it, so when I didnt see a email earlier I asumed that I didnt make it any farther into it. Well back to the train ride....
CONGRATULATIONS, you have made it to round 2! WOOOO HOOO!
I read online that in prior years there were 20K applicants, and 200 - 400 make it to round 2. Those of you who have known me since I was a child will know how much I love Disney. Now on Monday night I will need to log back in and see the essay questions and a video. I will have to be quick since I am leaving on Wednesday for Disney!
Wish me luck!
Today is packing day. For some reason in October, I end up traveling for work right before I leave for a family vacation (this is the second year in a row). Today I packed for not only my work trip, but the Disney vacation. The only issue we have is the temperature. It is October, so the temperatures can vary from Chilly to down right Hot! So i made sure that we have have a bit of everything (and my purex all in one sheets to wash cloths if needed). Lili told me I had to make sure that her princess gown and gloves were packed! She told me that Marie and Nemo needed to come on vacation, because that is where they came from and need to visit home :)
Tomorrow we will be 14 days from vacation, and I had a major decision to make. Every time we travel do Disney, I know that we will purchase a few official pictures from them. And they are not cheap. Normally $15 a photo, and yes I take lots of photos but when I go online, they photos they have taken and loaded onto my Disney photos account, they just look better. They is a service that Disney offers, but it has to be purchased 14 days prior to arrival. You can get a unlimited photopass or photopass + from them. With the photopass, all photos they take of you you get. With photopass + you get all the photos from the rides and the magic shots (where they put the characters in with you in the pictures). The only issue is the cost $99 or $149.
I did end up breaking down and purchased the phtopass+. I realized this will allow us to have all the photos and I don't need to worry about my camera and can actually be in the photos with Lili. She is only young once and she
Today, I came home from work and on the porch was a nondescript brown box. I knew what was inside, and my pixie dust was about to bust out of the box. I let me daughter open it (she is young an doesn't get much mail), and inside were out Magic bands! Me and Lili choose pink ones and Nana choose blue. I have to say, having things arrive staggered is great! it keeps up the excitement of the trip!
If you tell your child about your trip to Disney you will get the same question multiple times a day: "When are we going?". For little children a calendar wont work, they don't understand the concept yet. They need something more visual. We made a count down chain. On each day I would write the day and the number of days till the trip. Each day you child can remove a day from the chain and they can see how many are left. My daughter helped make it.Happy stapling!
